VIZ MEDIA ANNOUNCES ANGELOTTI LICENSING AS THE OFFICIAL AGENT FOR BLEACH IN BRAZIL

VIZ Media has announced an important licensing agreement to make Angelotti Licensing the official brand partner for BLEACH in Brazil. Angelotti Licensing is a Brazilian company specializing in licensing a variety of entertainment and family brands across all media.
Angelotti Licensing will seek to leverage the BLEACH brand among key target audiences with a variety of high quality products, accessories and apparel. The agreement comes at a time when the popularity of anime-based media continues to spread across South America.
“We are happy to represent this important property, and we consider BLEACH a very potent brand for the Brazilian market,” says Mr. Luiz Angelotti, President of Angelotti Licensing. “We look forward to working closely with VIZ Media to implement an innovative brand strategy that will support and expand its popularity throughout the region”
“Brazil is an important and growing market for anime and Japanese entertainment media, and partnering with a key agency like Angelotti Licensing will play a vital part in continuing to develop the BLEACH brand,” says Aadil Tayouga, Licensing Analyst, VIZ Media.

SBT adquire Blue Dragon

VIZ Media licenses BLUE DRAGON to Televideo in LA

VIZ Media has announced that Season One (episodes 1-51) of BLUE DRAGON has been licensed for terrestrial broadcast to Televideo Services Inc., a company based in Miami, FL which has participation or direct ownership of more than 50 television and radio stations throughout Latin and South America.
BLUE DRAGON will debut in 2010 on television channels owned by or in participation with Televideo Services in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Paraguay, Honduras and Bolivia.
“We previously licensed MEGAMAN NT Warrior and three seasons of NARUTO to Televideo Services and we’re very pleased to expand our relationship with our exciting animated adventure BLUE DRAGON,” says Gonzalo Ferreyra, VIZ Media Vice President of Sales and Product Marketing. “Central and South America have one of the fastest growing television audiences and anime programs enjoy a huge following among kids as well as adults. Televideo Services has an enormous presence in the region and we are proud to partner with them again.”

Viz Changes Stream Date for Inuyasha: The Final Act

The North American anime distributor Viz Media announced Friday that Inuyasha: The Final Act will now stream on Mondays on both ShonenSunday.com/anime and Hulu.com. The anime had originally been simulcast on Saturdays since its debut on October 3. The change will start with the next episode, which will be available on December 14. There will be no episode this Saturday, December 12.

Amados navegantes, acabou a mamata!

Japanese Animation and Manga Powerhouses Acquire Top European Distributors

The Japanese manga and animation powerhouses Shogakukan Inc., Shueisha Inc. and Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions Co., Ltd. (Shogakukan & Shueisha Group) announced their joint acquisition of Kaze S.A.S. (Kaze) and Anime Virtual S.A. (Anime Virtual), two of Europe’s leading distributors and licensees of Japanese animation. With this acquisition, the group positions itself as a major multi-media force throughout Europe for manga-based Japanese animation and entertainment. Paris-based subsidiary VIZ Media Europe (VME, President, John P. Easum) will helm the group’s Europe activities, with Kaze and Anime Virtual now part of its stable.
Prior to acquiring Kaze and Anime Virtual, Shogakukan & Shueisha Group managed VME’s European operations through its U.S. based subsidiary VIZ Media, LLC (VMC, President, Hidemi Fukuhara). Since the launch of VIZ Media Europe in 2007, Shogakukan & Shueisha Group, in cooperation with VMC and VME has continued to study the European market for opportunities to grow the fan base and to offer a greater range of Japan’s highest quality manga and anime content. Kaze and Anime Virtual were chosen to be the key drivers of this pan-European strategy and the timing is perfect as a rising demand for manga-based animation meets the growth of multi-platform distribution channels.
Kaze (President, Cedric Littardi) mainly operates in French speaking territories and Anime Virtual (President, Nicolas Weber-Krebs) operates primarily in German speaking territories. Their combined core businesses include TV sales, DVD and music distribution, film distribution, consumer products, and new digital distribution and broadcast platforms, as well as manga publishing in French speaking territories.
This acquisition provides Shogakukan & Shueisha Group with several critical tools:
• Direct DVD publishing and distribution in France and Germany.
• TV broadcast and distribution through various new platforms and technologies.
• Development and licensing of consumer products.
• Direct manga publishing and distribution ability throughout French speaking Europe.
• Innovative brand building across a full spectrum of media, including manga publishing, animation licensing, animation broadcasting, consumer product licensing and new digital platforms.
The new company, which will be wholly owned by Shogakukan & Shueisha Group, will integrate VME, Kaze, Anime Virtual and their subsidiary companies under a unified infrastructure and administration. John P. Easum, has been named President/Gérant of the new company and will head up the group’s European operations. The head office will remain in Paris. Cedric Littardi and Nicolas Weber-Krebs have been appointed managing directors.
Explains Mr. Easum, “This is a very exciting development for all parties involved in this venture. Kaze and Anime Virtual are proven pioneers and leaders in the distribution of Japanese content. This acquisition benefits Shogakukan & Shueisha Group with Kaze and Anime Virtual’s proven local market expertise, marketing innovation and experienced management. We will now be in a much better position to support our many partners, while proactively developing the market by bringing a greater variety of content to our fans in a much more effective and timely manner.”

Traduzindo...

Sites de animes divulgaram que o Cartoon Network adquiriu os direitos de exibição do primeiro filme: Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (劇場版NARUTO(ナルト) 大活劇!

They continue to be an ideal partner for the NARUTO brand, sharing our goal to entertain with unique animated content.”

E a Viz deixou a peteca cair.

VIZ Media Expands NARUTO Brand in South America

VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced that International Merchandising Consultants (IMC) has been named as the Merchandise Licensing Agent in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay for the smash-hit property NARUTO.
IMC has been a leading South American entertainment licensing company for a variety of cutting-edge entertainment properties for over 27 years and will have the exclusive right to negotiate product licensing deals with local partners in Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay for the NARUTO brand on behalf of VIZ Media. The company represents some of the hottest brands in the industry today, including a variety from Lucasfilm, Fox and Marvel.
The agreement lends even more momentum to the growing popularity of the NARUTO franchise throughout Latin America and further widens the overall international appeal of this unique property. Targeting tweens and teens, the animated series portrays the adventures of a young boy named Naruto Uzumaki who trains to become a ninja. The series has captured legions of fans across North America, where it’s seen weekly by millions on Cartoon Network and also on YTV in Canada.
VIZ Media has also licensed broadcast rights to various broadcasters in the region, including Cartoon Network Latin America (Pan-regional), Televisa (Mexico), SBT (Brazil), Televen (Venezuela), Chilevision (Chile), City TV Bogota (Colombia), America TV (Peru) and many others. In addition to this impressive list of broadcast partners, NARUTO has a broad merchandising program in several Latin American territories. Licensed categories include apparel, back-to-school, snack food promotion, toys, sticker albums, home entertainment and others.
